Rohinton Nariman
Rohinton Nariman has resigned as the Solicitor General of India. He has sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister of India Shri Manmohan Singh and a copy of the same to Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar.
Though the reasons that lead to Nariman’s resignation are not immediately known, sources claim that Nariman was unhappy over certain directions of law minister Ashwani Kumar and the ministry.
The 56-year-old Nariman was appointed as the solicitor general (SG), the second seniormost law officer of the country, on July 23, 2011, after the then Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam had resigned on July 14, 2011.
Mr Nariman is the son of eminent jurist Fali S Nariman.
As per media reports, Nariman left for Mumbai after submitting his resignation.
