Tsunami Warning Issued after 8.0 Magnitude Earthquake in South Pacific

Earthquake Today, Tsunami Warning Issued : Breaking News of the moment comes from South Pacific, where the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has issued a Tsunami Warning after a strong earthquake of magnitude 8.0 on the Richter scale struck near Solomon Islands.
The tsunami warning has been issued for the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Tuvalu, New Caledonia, Kosrae, Fiji, Kiribati, Wallis and Futuna. A tsunami watch is in effect for American Samoa, Australia, New Zealand and eastern Indonesia.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS) data the quake struck 81 kilometres west of Lata in Temotu province, the easternmost province of the Solomon Islands at a depth of 5.8 Kms.
Infact after the earthquake, a tsunami of about 5 feet was caused which damaged dozens of homes in the South Pacific island chain.
