In the ongoing 2013 Special Olympics World Winter Games being played at Pyeong Chang, South Korea, Indian athletes have won 20 medals.
In the 10th Special Olympics World Winter Games which began on January 29 and will end on February 5, 2013, games are being competed in eight sports — alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, figure skating, short track speed skating, floor hockey and floorball.
So far India has won six gold, six silver and eight bronze.
12-year-old Anishka Upadhyay from Lucknow, the youngest delegate at the Games, won two gold in Alpine Skiing in the event competed by over 2200 mentally-challenged athletes from over 120 countries.
Raj Kumar Tiwari won a gold in Figure Skating and a silver in the Doubles Skating with Kirti Kalra, another Special Olympics Bharat skater.
Kriti and Simran are two sisters with hearing disabilities who glide like angels on the skating rink, performing to music they can barely hear, a special Olympics Bharat release said.
