Good News for Indian fliers, especially those who frequently fly to South East Asian destinations for business or are to go for an holiday.
Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia has opened bookings for two million seats between April 2 and 7, 2013 offering air tickets as cheap as Rs 3,300 to South East Asian destinations for travel next year from January 1 to April 30, 2014.
The airline has announced “zero rupee” fares from Indian cities on international routes within Asia, which means passengers will have to pay on airport charges and fuel surcharge.The company is offering as much as 70 % discount on fares. One can fly from Kolkata to Bangkok for all-in-fare of Rs 3,300, Chennai to Bangkok for Rs 3,500, Bangalore to Kuala Lumpur for Rs 5,500 , Kolkata to Kuala Lumpur for Rs 5000, Kochi or Chennai to Kuala Lumpur for Rs 4500 and from Tiruchirapalli to Kuala Lumpur for Rs 4000, a statement by the budget carrier on AirAsia said on Monday.
This move comes after AirAsia and the Tata Group recently got the government’s nod to start an airline in India, but company said that the offer is do nothing with India entry as we may enter even before January next,” a company official said, declining to be named.
“Free seats….two million promo seats available tonight at midnight,” AirAsia chief Tony Fernandes tweeted.
“Free seats to Malaysian destinations, Penang, Alor Setar, Johor Bahru, Kota Bahru, Terengganu and more are also available from Kuala Lumpur,” an official said.
