Director Indra Kumar who has directed Rekha in Super Nani feels she is the best female actor of our generation. And among the actor it is Amitabh Bachchan who the director feels is at the top of the league. "When we think of all the actors, both male and female right from the last century to the current one, the two top names that come to my mind are Amitabh Bachchan among males and Rekha among females. These two iconic stars have raised the bar so high that you can't think of any other names."
With so much praise flowing in for Amitabh and Rekha from Indra Kumar, we asked the director why he never thought about casting the legends together in Super Nani. "I would have loved to have had both Amitabh and Rekha in my movie but...," said Indra leaving the obvious unsaid.
Explaining it was not him but Rekha who chose this role, Indra said, “Rekha is very choosy with the kind of roles she does these days. She told me that she is offered a lot many roles but she doesn't want to disappoint her fans by acting in mindless roles. When I adapted the story of Super Nani from a Gujarati play, I just had Rekha in my mind for the lead role. When Rekha heard the script, she gave her nod immediately. I didn't even had to convince her. And when you see the way she has performed onscreen, you will understand why she could have only pulled off this role."
Super Nani also stars Sharman Joshi and Indra Kumar's daughter Shweta Kumar and will release on 31 October.
